For a band that are used to the likes of Wembley arena, Bullet For My Valentine’s appearance in Southampton O2 Guildhall was most definitely an intimate one. After appearing at Camden Rocks Festival 2015 as a surprise headliner, BFMV’s announcement of their huge Venom tour was received with plenty of hallelujahs from their fans – Following the release of ‘No Way Out’, the band confirmed dates for a huge run of shows with their new bassist, Jamie Mathias.
With a killer set list, BFMV burst into action straight away with their latest release before treating fans to an even feistier ‘4 Words (To Choke Upon’) straight from ‘The Poison‘ album. The crowd were already pumped and ready to go after getting hot and heavy with Coldrain and While She Sleeps beforehand, so it could only get better. But what do BFMV really bring to the table? Apart from circle pips, fists flying in every direction and soaring choruses of course?
The entire set was explosive, the thrashing of bass reaching the ears of even those way at the back or on their way into the venue. With ‘Venom’ released not too long ago, it was no surprise that their set list was filled with tracks straight from their latest offerings. However, that didn’t stop BFMV from teasing fans with some of their favourites, including ‘Tears Don’t Fall’ and ‘Your Betrayal.‘
Full of snarls and heavy riffing, BFMV proved to their Southampton fans that they won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.
